June 1 will be our last Noisy Offering Sunday for this school year. During VBS in June, the kids will add up the total offering and decide which animal(s) to purchase from God’s Global Barnyard (through the ELCA’s Good Gifts program) to help a family in need. Be sure to bring all those coins to church on Sunday, June 1!
On Sunday, June 8 we will celebrate what God is doing in the lives of two young women of St. Peter when Sabra Dunakey and Emily Jones affirm their baptisms. The congregation is invited to help Emily, Sabra, and their families celebrate at a luncheon following the worship service.
June 8 is also Pentecost Sunday. We would like to splash the church with red in celebration of the outpouring of the Holy Spirit and the birth of the Christian Church. Remember to wear red that day!
If you would like to help purchase geraniums to decorate the sanctuary, just indicate on your offering envelope the amount you would like dedicated for purchasing geraniums.
Update from Brian Jack and family
I have accepted a call to Salem Lutheran in Creston, IA (about an hour SW of Des Moines, IA) and will begin serving there as solo pastor on Sunday June 15th.
An ordination service has been planned for Sunday June 8th (Pentecost) at 4p.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran in Slater, Iowa, with dinner to follow for all of you traveling from Spokane 🙂 We’re currently house hunting in Creston while staying with my parents in Algona.
Mobile Food Bank
Mark your calendars! The Thrivent/2nd Harvest Mobile Food Bank is coming to St. Peter on August 22 (will replace our usual food pantry for that day) and October 3. We will need at least 10 volunteers each day from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. to help set up, distribute food, and clean up. Please consider volunteering for this important ministry to our neighbors.
To all who helped with our church clean up day on April 26!
To all of our Sunday School teachers and helpers for the 2013-14 year!
