For those of you who have not been in touch with Brian Jack and family, his final Sunday with St. Luke Lutheran is May 11th. They will head back to St. Paul, MN, for graduation, held May 18th. He had an interview with a congregation in Creston, IA and if all goes well he will serve there as a solo pastor beginning this summer. We all know they travel with the Lord and His plan for the family is greater than we can know. St. Peter was blessed to have known Brian, Cari, Judah and Blair, and we join with St. Luke in prayers of continued blessings for the family on this great adventure.
We recently started something new at St. Peter: Noisy Offering! On the first Sunday of every month, the kids of our congregation will take a collection of loose change for a special offering. We’ll gather our coins for the next few months. This summer, the kids will get to “purchase” an animal or animals for a from God’s Global Barnyard through the ELCA’s Good Gifts program.
This animal will go to a family in another part of the world. An animal can make a world of difference for a family in need. Animals provide food to eat, fertilizer to grow crops, and offspring to sell on the market. With one gift, we can help a family escape the cycle of hunger and poverty for good.
For example, we can donate one pig for $30. A pig in the pen is like money in the bank. Within months, a tiny piglet grows to weigh over 200 pounds! Should a family have a failed harvest, medical expense, or other unexpected financial need, this pig can be sold for much-needed cash at the market.
Synod Assembly Worship
Won’t you join us? Don’t miss this great opportunity for all area Lutherans to join together in a
large festival worship. Closing Worship of the 2014 Synod Assembly will be held at the Doubletree by Hilton City Center Hotel 322 North Spokane Falls Court in Spokane on Sunday, May 18 at 10:30 a.m.
Churchwide representative Rev. Heidi Torgerson-Martinez serves as Program Director for Young Adults in Global Mission (YAGM) in the churchwide organization’s Global Mission Unit. Pastor Torgerson-Ramirez will be preach and Bishop Martin Wells will preside.
Zion Lutheran has again made a financial donation to our Food Bank. They have an ongoing gifting for our congregation, what a gracious congregation.
